La cinta mexicana Noche de fuego de Tatiana Huezo comenzó con paso firme su aventura en la temporada de premios de Hollywood al recibir la nominación a la Mejor Película Internacional en los Satellite Awards, unos galardones que vota una agrupación de periodistas extranjeros y que inauguran el circuito de premios previo a los Oscar.
Junto al filme mexicano hay una participación hispana de reconocer como es el caso del filme El Buen Patrón, Pedro Almodóvar, Penélope Cruz y Alberto Iglesias, de España que recibieron también este miércoles nominaciones para los Satellite Awards
La Academia de la Prensa Internacional (IPA en sus siglas en inglés) vota estos premios desde 1997, aunque no debe confundirse con la Asociación de la Prensa Extranjera de Hollywood (HFPA), encargada de los polémicos Globos de Oro.
Noche de Fuego y El Buen Patrón compiten por el premio a la mejor película de habla no inglesa contra Titane (Francia), È stata la mano di Dio (Italia), Verdens verste menneske (Noruega), Un Héroe (Irán), Flee (Dinamarca), Doraibu mai kâ (Japón) y Hytti nro 6 (Finlandia).
Por su parte, Penélope Cruz está nominada a mejor actriz protagonista por Madres Paralelas, en una categoría que incluye a Jessica Chastain, Kristen Stewart, Lady Gaga, Nicole Kidman y Olivia Colman.
Pedro Almodóvar concurrirá por el galardón al mejor guión original y Alberto Iglesias, su habitual colaborador, hará lo mismo en el apartado de mejor banda sonora, donde aparecen nombres como Hans Zimmer y Alexandre Desplat.
En las categorías generales Belfast (13), The Power of the Dog (12) y Dune (10) aparecen como las más nominadas.
Además, el director, escritor y compositor de origen puertorriqueño Lin-Manuel Miranda recibirá un premio especial por sus recientes obras, que incluyen Hamilton, Tick, tick... Boom y Encanto.
